OLD NEWS

2009 News

On June 11th 2009, Weymouth & Portland Borough Council presented Professor Poulton (with Mr Punch) to Her Majesty The Queen and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh. Shows were performed on that special occasion in Marks unique replica ‘Victorian’ booth complete with traditionally built wooden wheels. This year marks the 20th anniversary of ‘Poulton’s Puppets’. In May 1989 I passed my driving test, left school and moved out of home to start performing the show as a full time professional showman. I have presented Punch & Judy on many beaches and various locations over the last 20 years I have also met many weird and wonderful people!

The Brits, Icons and Weymouth

On Feb 15th I travelled to 'Brit awards 2006'. This was held at Earls Court, London and I was to perform Punch & Judy at the after show party, which theme was 'the end of the pier show'.

Performances were given between 10pm and 2.00am to the 'merry' party people! We had lots of fun!!!

In early January the 'ICONS' website was launched at Shakespere's Globe Theatre, London. I was invited to give a performance as Mr Punch was nominated as an 'icon'. I (or I should say Mr Punch) ended up launching the press conference - a real honour.

I was back working on Weymouth beach over Easter (Good Friday to Bank Holiday Monday). It was really good to be back on the spot where I was inspired to take up the art of 'Punch & Judy' as a young boy.
