My forth season is done and dusted at Weymouth!
We had dryer weather than most of the country but very windy.
Performances were given most days.
The forecasters constantly got the weather reports wrong, which was not good for tourism. The book - 'Weymouth and Mr Punch' by Weymouth author Judith Stinton is now on sale. A great read ! It covers all of the known Punch & Judy performers who have appeared on Weymouth beach along with a brief history of Punch & Judy and some great pictures are also featured in the book.
The media were out in force! Mr Punch and myself ended up on the BBC '1 show'and Country File, amongst others. We were featured in The Guardian (twice), The Times, The Independent, Coast magazine, Chat magazine and the local Weymouth newspaper (3 times).
A painted portrait of myself stood next to the booth was commissioned by the new 'Weatherspoons' pub and now hangs on it's wall.
The show got invaded by Bee's! (they liked the newly painted stripes)!!
On Feb 15th I travelled to 'Brit awards 2006'. This was held at
Earls Court, London and I was to perform Punch & Judy at the
after show party, which theme was 'the end of the pier show'.
Performances were given between 10pm and 2.00am to the
'merry' party people! We had lots of fun!!!
In early January the 'ICONS' website was launched at
Shakespere's Globe Theatre, London. I was invited to give a
performance as Mr Punch was nominated as an 'icon'.
I (or I should say Mr Punch) ended up launching the press
conference - a real honour.
I was back working on Weymouth beach over Easter (Good
Friday to Bank Holiday Monday).
It was really good to be back on the spot where I was inspired to
take up the art of 'Punch & Judy' as a young boy.
